The military presence hangs heavy over this border town, but nowhere do heads hang heavier than the barracks of Unit 4. No one here joined up for honor or glory. Their ranks are made up of those who chose conscription over imprisonment or execution; a motley collection of criminals and ne'er-do-wells. Or, some who just got unlucky.
The Barracks Yard **(24x21 100dpi)** has cots enough to house twenty-four soldiers, a unit commander's office, a basic cooking space, and a storage room locked to all but the most trusted. They say there's a cellar door, in that storage room. One meager route to freedom...
*Poor poor Unit 4, Half as many as the day before,*
*The new recruits won't last the week, You'll find them in the vulture's beak.*
*Poor poor Unit 4, Not 'nuff left to scrape off the floor,*
*Soon their halls will be Unit 5, Give their bunks to the men that survive.*
