Military Waystation

A fortified waystation stands on a small rise in the middle of a dark forest. Anyone unwilling to risk leaving the safety of the main road has no choice but to pass through this checkpoint.

If the guards spot suspicious individuals or catch someone breaking the law, the outpost is equipped to detain both people and goods. The station is manned around the clock, with guards maintaining a constant watch over the road. Its fortifications also allow the garrison to hold its ground against larger threats if necessary.

**Layout:**
The ground floor contains the rooms used by the guards currently on duty. On the opposite side are the vault and several prison cells, allowing both confiscated goods and prisoners to be securely held within the outpost.

The first floor contains the living quarters, kitchen, and several additional rooms used by guards and commanding officers who are currently off duty. These areas provide space for resting, eating, and preparing for the next shift.

The rooftop serves both defensive and training purposes. Several ballistae and containers of oil are positioned along the fortifications to defend the waystation against larger threats. The remaining space is used for training, with several practice dummies and targets available for the guards.
