First attempt at major city map - Review Welcome.

The is my first attempt at a large-scale city map for my homebrew world. Typically, I just find a map online and adapt it to my world, but for the capital of one of the major nations, I thought I'd give it a shot.
The northern half of the city includes the poorer parts of town (northeast) and the merchant class (northwest). the center of the city is the main shopping district - it bothers me that the buildings look so much smaller, but as a newbie to Inkarnate, not sure how to fix it. Finally, the southern half of the city includes a large outdoor market (southwest), a park off the lake (center), the palace (walled section in center), local lords and their villas (due east from palace), universities and library (south of the lords) and finally, wealthy merchants & other elites (southwest. There are two small villages outside the walls.
**Would like some constructive criticism on the map - what did I do wrong; what did I do right? Thank you!**
