DarthAvernusDescription
Described by Ed Grenwood in 2nd edition ***Volo's Guide to the Sword Coast*** and shown in first part of Baldur's Gate video game - small hamlet of Ulgoth's Beard is waiting for adventurers!
Cave-studded cliffs surround the village, creating a small but safe haven and providing a natural defense for its inhabitants.
At first glance everything seems idyllic and peaceful - but Ulgoth's Beard hides more than meets the eye...
**Adventure hooks:**
\-> Smuggling is wrong only when you're caught, right?
*There are legends about* ***caves and underground corridors*** *under and around the city of Baldur's Gate. To have a small, secure harbour connected to them is an opportunity for some more... industrious individuals. And while there's nothing particularly wrong in avoiding the tariffs - there are rumours about something more sinister being smuggled during dark nights...*
\-> That temple... really abandoned and empty, is it?
*For hamlet that small keeping a cleric is not an easy task. Life's harsh enough without sermons, and small offerings that people can afford are not enough to sustain a member of clergy. Thus, the* ***old temple*** *was abandoned long time ago... or so it seemed, until strange lights and noises started to appear...*
\-> Eternal flame - extinguished.
***Old crypt*** *placed on a cliff is said to contain remains of those who fell repelling the pirate attacks - the old tale says, that heroes will rise to protect village, as long as the brazier next to it will be kept alit. Alas... someone (or* ***something****) sabotaged the brazier, and some weird noises were heard from behind the sealed gates...*
